Memphis Freshmen Trio Learns On The Job In Victory Over Grambling

After a hard fought effort against #8 Oklahoma, the Memphis Tigers (2-1) came out early without the same level of intensity that pushed the Sooners to the brink in their next contest Thursday night against Grambling (1-2). The Tigers lacked overall energy allowing the Tigers from Grambling to lead for the majority of the first half. The Tigers would lead at the half over highly outmatched Grambling 40-36, after trailing by as many as six.

Tigers Show Promise In Gallant Effort Against Oklahoma

The Memphis Tigers (1-1) gave fans good reasons to refill the seats in the FedEx Forum yesterday as they gave the #8 ranked Oklahoma Sooners (1-0) all that they could handle in an 84-78 loss. Led by a remarkable breakout effort by freshman Dedric Lawson, the Tigers played well enough to pull off the upset over the experienced Sooners but weren’t able to make enough key plays down the stretch.

Tigers Thump Golden Eagles; Look To Bring Fun Back To The FedEx Forum

Although their opponent didn’t provide much of a challenge, the Memphis Tigers (1-0) looked like a team with a clear identity defeating the Southern Mississippi Golden Eagles (0-1) 67-49, Saturday night. Leading by as many as 29 points, the Tigers jumped out early on the Golden Eagles in their opening game, displaying intense defense and a free flowing motion offense.
